NATURAL VS LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
OUR PERSPECTIVE
Are artificially produced diamonds real diamonds? In a nutshell, yes if you take into account their physical and chemical structures — minus the obvious differentia; production source. No, to earth-dug conservatives that put forward the rarity and genuine exclusivity of earth-mined diamonds.

Lab grown diamonds have many of the same physical properties as mined diamonds. However, they have two major drawbacks:
1. They have essentially zero rarity component, as they are mass produced by man. With natural mined diamonds, their carat weight is the primary driving force between their rarity and value. For example; a 4 CT diamond is exponentially more rare than a 1 CT diamond. With Lab Grown diamonds, as the growth process is further perfected, rarity at any scale goes away. Once lab grown techniques have reached their apex, creating a quarter carat or 10 Ct diamond will essentially cost the same.
2. Like with any other technology advancements, the cost of production continually declines. Like we have seen happen with flat screen TV’s, smart phones, and computers. This same principal of technology and production is playing out in Lab Grown diamonds as the wholesale value of them has consistently and notably declined since inception. To the contrary, natural diamonds are priced on genuine rarity and intrinsic value.
Many people are surprised to learn that diamonds created in a lab are not valuable on the second hand market in contrast to natural diamonds mined from the earth. The major reason for this is simple – they do not possess genuine rarity. Natural diamonds can only be created using extreme heat and pressure, and are found by scrambling through rock and mud beneath the Earth’s surface. Man-made diamonds can be created in labs using modern technology; hence their ever-increasing supply. The coverage, hype, and chatter around lab grown diamonds is far less than its actual market share in relation to the sale of natural mined diamond. The producers of lab grown diamonds are doing an effective job of promoting them as a green alternative, however, the creation of man-made lab grown diamonds has a very significant environmental impact. When a new product or technology is developed, and is embraced by consumers, the production efficiencies rapidly increase which translates to lower and lower prices, which in turn, further increases the demand.
This is demonstrated by the falling price of flat screen tvs, laptops, and the cost of smartphones in relation to their ever improving capabilities. This law of technology and new products is holding true with lab grown diamonds. The wholesale cost of them is dramatically falling meaning what you buy today will be worth less tomorrow. Numerous cash jewelry buyers in the trade do not purchase lab grown diamonds at any price for this reason. When lab grown precious gemstones, such as rubies and sapphires hit the market, they experienced the same rapid price depreciation. The only true advantage of lab grown diamonds for the consumer is that they can buy a big cheap stone. Price is what you pay, value is what you get. The value proposition and future sellability is what is missing from lab grown diamonds.

Natural diamonds are impossible to duplicate
Diamond purchasing is triggered by the heart and fired by emotion. When you choose a natural diamond, it means going beyond the chemical composure of your stone or the fact that it is billions of years old. There’s some movable energy swirling inside the gemstone that’s scientifically unexplainable. In antiquity, diamonds stood as symbols of righteousness and purity. A tremendously powerful rock drawing abundance, and success and encourages progress in life’s opportunities and manifestations. Diamonds inspire self-care, self-confidence, and self-love. That vibrant vitality felt from holding one in your hand or its genuine characteristics as a wonderful handiwork from mother nature cannot be remade by men and technology.
